Kerfuffled on Tuesday
A kerfuffle is defined as a disturbance or a fuss in Merriam-Webster's online dictionary. The board meeting of the East McDowell Owner's Association (EMOA), of which I am the president, certainly illustrates a scheduling kerfuffle. In telling this scheduling fiasco, I need to point out that people who wanted to help me, actually made things worse.
Two weeks ago, Kathy (the executive director of EMOA) sent an e-mail to members of the board, including me. Did we want to hold a meeting this week, or next? Most of us agreed to meet on Tuesday of this week, and I saved the date consciously.
However, the confirming e-mail for this meeting told me that the meeting would be held on Tuesday, the 12th. Uh-oh. Tuesday was on the 10th. I would have been smart to mark my calendar for Tuesday; instead I saved the date for Thursday, and I have no idea what sinister gremlin directed me to the calendar date instead of the day of the week.
Last week another board member checked on the date with me. "Thursday, right?" asked Ron. I told him that I believed it was actually on Tuesday. I checked my calendar - "No, the meeting is on Thursday," I said. Ruth overheard me, and said that she thought the meeting was on Tuesday, not Thursday. "No, the meeting is on Thursday. I've saved the date on my calendar - see?" I showed her the calendar.
Both Ron and I agreed that Tuesday would be more convenient. However, I saw no reason to change the plan, and I had already reserved Thursday on my calendar. I decided not to challenge the date of the meeting.
On Monday afternoon, Ruth told me that she was cleaning the board room "for the meeting tomorrow." Huh, I stopped and thought. "Isn't the meeting on Thursday?"
"Oh no," said Ruth. I spoke to Cathy. She decided to change the date to make it more convenient for you.
It is sweet that Ruth and Cathy wanted to make events convenient for me. At this time, however, I had agreed to help my dad with a medical checkup. The Board gathering was no longer convenient on Tuesday - the day was rather crowded now.
I danced, I jiggled my schedule. I held the board meeting on Tuesday. Somehow, I avoided stepping into the kerfuffle.

kerfuffle
I love the word. When you say it aloud it makes you feel the meaning. I visualize the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland being kerfuffled. I am certain you remained calm during the juggling of your schedule.
