Yes, I am mortal

Wow, has it really been two weeks since I added a blog update? I need to get with the program.

Lots to say, but this is top of my mind.  I had a stress test on a treadmill this week, supervised by a nursing team. My blood pressure shot up to a dangerous range just as I was warming up. I did not feel overworked, in fact I wanted to pump up the action. The nurse in charge had a different plan.  Sit down, drink some water. A senior nurse was called, and she practically ordered me to take some blood pressure medication.  "Adjust your medications," I was told. Yes, I have been taking blood pressure meds for the greater part of a decade, and I am a calmer person with my little white pill.

I exercise everyday.  If I have to miss a day, I am unhappy.  I like working out, sweating, and feeling golden life energy soar through me. Exercising does that for me.

I skipped my workout after that blood pressure scare.  Instead, I booked an appointment with my doctor.  We talked, and he calmed me down.  He encouraged me to keep working out, as my heart is strong and my cholesterol is in a good range.  We both agreed that working out would be good for my heart and life force.

I will be speaking at the memorial service for my mother-in-law on Sunday.  I want to live for another 40+ years, and see my kids get married, launch their careers, and come to me for advice (HAH!). I am mortal, I realize that intensely now, and I will do my best to live well with a smile while I have this gift of life.

We never know when the day will come and it can be unexpected. These wake up calls can be beneficial in that they can help us take better care of ourselves and slow down, and appreciate what we have today. Thank you for posting about this.
