Leaders, lead the celebration
Leaders make it official, celebrate the victories. The influential leader offers time, place, and opportunities for followers to publicly honor their successes. A leader offers the official benediction that makes the celebration memorable. Followers will sustain the spirit of accomplishment for a long time after a well-earned celebration, and new followers may join the circle. An excellent celebration sets the tone for positive achievement for some weeks after the event. Leaders offer small and large celebrations to honor their follower’s for the spirit of their contribution.
Through appreciation, recognizing efforts, and celebrations, leaders build community. Followers and leaders come to enjoy working together or sharing experiences. The social motive is a powerful linkage between people of a common purpose. Even leaders who work independently of their followers may find reason to connect people together in a common community. Communities sustain themselves, and they tend to generate stories, heroes, and even new leaders. When a leader has encouraged enough hearts to build a community, the members of the group will find reasons to work with the leader on new ventures.
