Five questions about Servant Leaders, part 3

How does a servant leader judiciously use power? Power is often misused by leaders. The stories of the poor use of power taints the concept of powerful people.  However, I think that power is not inherently bad, even though some people have used it poorly.  I would trust a true servant leader with the use of power, and perhaps my trust is naïve. I believe that power is less important to a great leader than is having influence with people; still, in the hands of a great leader, influence IS powerful. There are many kinds of power that leaders use, from the absolute power of command, to the power that follows from knowledge. I want to know how a servant leader can employ power, any form of it, fairly and make the organization and community a happier, more effective place.

I pose these questions because I hope to learn more about the nature of servant leadership. Do you have any thoughts or questions for me? Have you worked with a servant leader? I am interested in your experience.
