The radius of your circle

Expand your trust radius. Make your professional relationships more personal. Be willing to risk a deeper relationship.

Join me in daring to go deeper. Reveal something more about yourself, and celebrate the differences with the people you know at work. “How was your weekend?” I dare you to say something real, share the good times and the disappointments. You’ll be seen as more authentic, more trustworthy.

I suspect the people around you already know the emotional truth in your life.  People can tell when you are enjoying life, and when you are shedding tears. Your colleagues may not know the details, still you send out a powerful signal about your experience of life.

When you reveal the truth about yourself –even in cautious little tweets – the people in your life relax a bit.  They are willing to tell you more about the truth in themselves. They may share important information, or confide in you in a big way. Your trust radius is a measure of the degree that you are willing to tear down emotional barriers, and let people into your circle.
