Goals and self-mastery

Goals may be stacked together to create a major life accomplishment.  The career changer, like the leader, moves into unknown territory. The sequence of goals allows a person moving through change to know that the effort is purposeful.  A purposeful sequence allows one to have the advantage of mind power applied to their actions.

I believe that when career changers firmly commit to their goals, they become masters of their destinies.  They have chosen to control the way they think, evaluated their choices, and selected a set of actions that increase the likelihood of learning and eventual success. The career changer becomes a better leader simply by learning how goals help one achieve great things.

The quality of self-mastery helps anyone achieve important career goals.  Eventually, one will encounter resistance. The ability to apply a disciplined effort at achieving goals means that resistance has met an opposing force for change! When the career changer applies knowledge, determination, and the power of a network, the ability to move through resistance is increased.

This selection is from Chapter 9 of my book in progress, Leaders In Transition.
